On 9th September, a lively group of 46 club members set off from Sheffield for a five-day break to the beautiful seaside town of Llandudno. Spirits were high as the coach rolled into North Wales, and the group soon settled into their hotel – which proved to be excellent, with lovely staff and, in the opinion of many, the best coach driver ever!
Exploring Llandudno
The first full day, 10th September, was left free for everyone to explore at their own pace. Some adventurers took the tramway up the Great Orme to enjoy the panoramic views, while others preferred a gentler stroll along the Victorian pier, sampling coffee shops along the way. And, of course, a dedicated few wasted no time in heading straight to Wetherspoons, setting the tone for a thoroughly sociable trip!
A Diamond Celebration
On 11th September, the group set out on an excursion to Betws-y-Coed and Beaumaris. Unfortunately, the Welsh weather didn’t quite cooperate, but the damp skies couldn’t spoil the mood. The day was especially memorable as Barry and Diane celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary – 60 remarkable years together. Their breakfast table was decorated with balloons and banners, and after the evening meal, they were surprised with a celebratory cake, which was warmly shared among friends.
Social Days and Winning Ways
Another free day followed on 12th September. Members took the chance to explore Conwy, enjoy a spot of shopping, or – yes, you’ve guessed it – make another visit to Wetherspoons! That evening, the hotel bar became the hub of laughter and good company, as everyone gathered for a lively social teatime.
Evenings were never dull, with bingo providing entertainment night after night. Much to the delight of the Norton ladies, they cleaned up in spectacular style – winning over £800 between them during the course of the holiday!
Homeward Bound
On 13th September, it was time to bid farewell to Llandudno and return by coach to Sheffield, bringing home fond memories of great company, wonderful hospitality, and plenty of laughs.
Final Thoughts
The trip had everything – from fresh sea air and sightseeing to milestone celebrations and more than a few lucky bingo numbers. With such a fantastic hotel, warm-hearted staff, and unforgettable camaraderie, it’s safe to say this was another successful and memorable Norton House Country Club holiday.
